What time is it?
Adventure Time!
What's adventure time?
It's the best time!
Readers I am officially 7 hours away from my trip! THIS IS SO EXCITING! I leave at 5:00 am tomorrow morning for North West Alberta. I have a 7-hour drive ahead of me, and I'm feeling pretty nervous excited. I love road trips... when I'm asleep in the backseat. I'm not big on distance driving and the longest drive I've ever done was a 3 hour road trip to our mountain house. So this should be interesting, to say the least.

Essentially I will be away on a 3 day long pack trip. A guide is taking me into the wilderness, on horseback. I'm doing this trip for a year long project, like I explained in my almost adventure time post. The whole point is to get the most gorgeous striking photos of the Canadian wilds for my online magazine, which celebrates southern Alberta's pet and equine community. I figured a horseback trip would be a great spread and also perhaps an excuse to get away from everything for a few days. Plus, I'm seriously hoping that we'll see lots of wild life on this trip. Alberta is home to all sorts of amazing critters, including but not limited to: grizzly bears, black bears, wolves, moose, cougars, wapiti, and... wild horses.
I can't even tell you how amazing it would be to see wild horses on this trip. However, I don't want to express how much I want this because, you know, Murphy's Law.
Speaking of Murphy's Law..... wanna guess what happened to me today?
I woke up feeling like I had the flu/had been hit by a truck. This can only mean one thing...
achy joints... feverish body aches... bad pelvic pain... cramping... nausea....
I got my fucking period.
Really? Really??? For those of you that don't know, having your period while you have endometriosis is absolutely horrendous and just about the worst thing ever. How bad? Allow me to sum it up the best I can ... internal bleeding. Severe inflamation. Death.
Really, though. It's like my body went: "HMM. How shall I screw us over today?" Like what the hell??? There are grizzlies out there! Oh my god a grizzly will smell my period and eat me.
I'm so upset about this but I'm trying to remain optimistic. Problem is, my condition has been declining steadily over the summer. I had an appointment with my specialist last week and he thinks that it may be time for me to have another surgery. It's possible that the endometriosis has moved onto my bladder, and that's why I've had so much pain and difficulty while peeing and why I was pissing blood a couple weeks ago, as mentioned in the Snowtember and my trip to urgent care post. Regardless, I've been trying to keep it together and today I made sure to get all my ducks in a row, so I could sleep worry free tonight and leave tomorrow morning without complications.
my clothes all packed up for my trip-- lots of warm layers! |
So, like a responsible car owner (?) I had my lovely little Mazda serviced today. By the way, and just so everyone knows, my car's name is Curtis, named of course after Curtis Glencross of the Calgary Flames (my favorite hockey team).
I loved Curtis Glencross before it was cool to love Curtis Glencross. |
Ahem. Anyways, I brought my little black car to the lube place (what the hell else do you call it???) and had an oil change done. Because I'm lazy I said yes when the guy asked me if I wanted my windshield wiper fluid topped up, and yes please check my tire pressure. $105.00 later my car was clean and good to go. Now, cars really aren't my thing, and I get really nervous in these garage oil changey places because really I don't know what's going on. To sum that whole event, here was my tweet from this afternoon, while the oil change was under way:
And by "smart questions" I meant,"miss would you like me to top up your windshield wiper fluid?" and "shall I check your tire pressure today?" it was all very nerve wracking don't judge I'm shy.
I would love to keep blogging (I really don't know when or how to shut up) but I am utterly exhausted (got to bed at 3 last night-- long story) so I NEED to get some sleep now. Good night everyone! You'll hear from me on Friday evening (assuming I don't get eaten by a grizzly)!
IT'S ADVENTURE TIME!
