30 Day invisible illness challenge: Day 17

Day Seventeen:
The commercials about my illness:

There's something about seeing a video about endometriosis that gives me all the feels. Each and every time I see an endo video, I'm overcome with this feeling of I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE! I've included a few of my favorite endometriosis videos in this post for both your viewing pleasure (ha) and for educational purposes.

Living with a chronic illness: Endometriosis

I like this video and it gave me all the feels, because a.) my hot water bottle is also my best friend and b.) she's really optimistic about her future. This woman also struggles with getting out of bed, likely due to depression and pain-- I can relate to this. She also tells a story about this time in gym class when she fell to the floor and threw up, and that rang true for me. When me pain reaches the dreaded "10" my body responds by vomiting and fainting.

L'endometriose, parlos-en

Lucky for me I am fluent in French. For those of you who aren't, the video has subtitles. I love this story because it just feels so real to me. The fight with her boyfriend over her complaining all the time, her feeling like she was going crazy... this video brought some tears to my eyes because I totally get this, I lived this. She said that sometimes she felt so bad she thought she was dying-- this sounds like a tremendous exaggeration, but unless you've felt the awful pain of endometriosis, you won't understand. Sometimes it is literally so bad you can't help but think that maybe you're being eaten alive, from the inside out. Profuse sweating, which they included in the video, is something I experience, so seeing this in a PSA was just so... I can't explain it.... perfect? This video really captures what it's like to have endometriosis. The ending of this video is very inspiring and it makes me feel so good.
